It's Only A Bit Of Snow!
Now on reading this blogs title you are probably thinking what is she talking about London hasn't had any snow...EXACTLY!!
All I have heard this week is how we are going to be hit by snow this weekend. The news are giving out weather warning, promising travel will be impossible and the whole country will be in chaos. Has no one told them it's just snow!
Obviously my sympathies are with those who have to travel to work, as I am one of them. It's bad enough going to work in the freezing cold without having train problems and being stuck in traffic due to the weather. Still life doesn't stop for a little bit of frozen water. Sure they close down schools, cancel the trains and some people even stay off work, but the majority of us carry on as normal.
After all the fuss we will probably get a few centimetres and that's if it even settles. How do they think countries that always have snow cope!

Online Dating.
Gone are the days of meeting someone you like, starting a conversation and asking for their number. No now you can find someone while watching Eastenders through the wonder of the internet, and they say romance is dead!
With hundreds of people searching for love online, what are the chances of actually finding 'the one'. Also not to mention the obvious risks of meeting up with complete strangers. Still with some many people joining these sites maybe internet dating is the future.

Horoscopes.
Some people love the idea that our lives are already mapped out and that by reading a horoscope we can find out what the Universe has in store for us. Others find the whole thing ridiculous.
I have no idea if horoscopes are true so I tend to just forget about them but occasionally I do read mine and must admit some things make a lot of sense.
This is my horoscope for today:
Sometimes, when dealing with an awkward set of circumstances, we ask ourselves 'How on earth did I get myself into this situation in the first place?' Almost always, the answer is that you thought, at the time, that it was the right - or the best - or the most appropriate - thing to do. And actually, just because it has turned tricky, you can't automatically assume that you made a mistake. Some journeys can only be made by travelling along rough roads. Don't confuse where you are now with where you're going to end up!
Recently I have been struggling with my writing, and did contemplate giving the whole thing up. This could be read as a message to tell me to keep going...or it could mean something completely different!
That's the thing about horoscopes, you can read them and make a conclusion about what it means but there are hundreds of people born under each sign and everyone is different. How can one horoscope relate to all of them?
I would say horoscopes are just one of life's many mysteries.

Winter.
I fall into the category of people who generally dislike winter.
I can't say I hate the season, after all the snow can be very pretty. I'm just one of these people who can't stand the cold, and when you live in London winter can last anywhere between September right up till April.
I know there are some people who love winter, but to be honest I can't see anything lovable about waking up to a dark cold morning knowing you will soon be out in that freezing cold to get to work.
It has been scientifically proven that the sunlight releases serotonin in our brains and makes us feel happier. The walk to work is so much more pleasant when you are not shivering, being battered by wind or rain, rushing to get inside as quickly as possible.
If I could I think I would definitely immigrate to a country that is warm and sunny all year round.

Being A Writer Isn't As Easy As You'd Think.
Generally most people who are not writers think it is easy, that anyone who has basic literacy skills can write a story. Oh if they knew how wrong they were. It's one thing to write a story, but something completely different to write a story that people will want to buy!
Believe it or not, despite working part time I don't actually get a lot of time to write. I often work irregular hours + it takes me quite a while to get there and back. There are always other things that demand my attention. Ironing, cleaning, eating, sleeping, shopping not to mention having some form of social life.
I have to be in the right mood to work on my novel otherwise it's just a chore. I'm very easily distracted, the second something remotely interesting comes on TV, or the phone rings that's it.
Now you know why no one is a full time writer!

Saving Money.
So I decided a little while ago to get a proper photography camera, as my little digital has a very slow shutter speed. Thing is they cost like £300 or more and sadly I don't have that kind of cash to spend.
I've been trying to put aside money every week to save up, it's impossible! Every time I go shopping, even if it's just for boring things, I find at least one thing I love. Don't get me wrong I'm not one of these girls who spends their life shopping, I actually dislike shopping. However sometimes I like to treat myself, but who doesn't!
God if I'm this bad saving for a camera, I don't want to think about what it will be like when I have a mortgage to pay off!

If They Want People To Eat Healthily..
Am I the only one that finds it ridiculous that to buy healthy food costs twice as much to buy unhealthy food! Yes I am aware that unhealthy food is generally cheaper to produce, but seriously..
I mean the other day after work I thought I'll get a sandwich it will be healthier, it cost me nearly £3! Fair enough there was probably more love and care put into that sandwich than a bag of chips, but we are in the middle of a recession..sandwich £3, chips £1..what do they think people are gonna pick!
When I went food shopping with my mum yesterday she wanted low fat yogurts, so I picked up a pack of Muller Rice which said "LOW FAT" only to be told by my mum that it had too many calories! If it's low fat surely it should have less calories?
I don't know what the Government do all day but perhaps they need to rethink their labelling & pricing of foods.

Fireworks.
Every year thousands of people stand crammed together in a muddy field tolerating the freezing temperatures to witness these fireworks displays, only to end up stuck in a crowd trying get back home when it's all over.
Despite this there is something almost magical about watching these beautiful explosions shoot across the sky that compels me to attend this festival every year.

The Secret.
I've been reading this book 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne, recommended by my mum and apparently very popular at the moment.
On first impressions I was skeptical..how could a book contain the secret to the Universe, and not even a very long book at that! However, after reading a few chapters I was in agreement with some of the ideas. Like how going into something with a negative attitude will often produce a negative outcome. For example thinking you are going to fail a test before even starting it can result in performing badly and achieving a low result.
Despite this I cannot see how the idea of believing something into existance can actually work. Are they seriously telling me if I wish for a million pounds it will fall out the sky!
Anyway it is well worth a read.

Welcome To My Blog.
I actually made the decision to start a blog in October..
The reasons behind this genius plan:
A. I love writing.
B. I get really bored when I'm not at work.
And C. Well it beats talking to the cat.
..and after a few days of designing and re-designing realised I had no idea what to write about!
Some people write about cooking or animals, others just talk about their day to day lives. Well my life is pretty boring and I couldn't think of a particular category I wanted to base my blog on, so I came to the conclusion to write about anything & everything..
So happy reading!
