Generally most people who are not writers think it is easy, that anyone who has basic literacy skills can write a story. Oh if they knew how wrong they were. It's one thing to write a story, but something completely different to write a story that people will want to buy!
Believe it or not, despite working part time I don't actually get a lot of time to write. I often work irregular hours + it takes me quite a while to get there and back. There are always other things that demand my attention. Ironing, cleaning, eating, sleeping, shopping not to mention having some form of social life.
I have to be in the right mood to work on my novel otherwise it's just a chore. I'm very easily distracted, the second something remotely interesting comes on TV, or the phone rings that's it.
Now you know why no one is a full time writer!
The successful writers are the ones who look at the distractions, and decide against them!
